Toys For Tots Literacy Program

We need your help. According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, nearly 14 million children live in poverty. Through the gift of a book, we can provide these children with the tools they need to help break the cycle of poverty, one child at a time. Click here to donate.”

Cover of Crossed by Ally Condie

You can read the synopsis and see Ally’s thoughts on her site.

What do you think?  I absolutely loved the cover of Matched but I hate to say this one doesn’t work as well for me.  It’s kind of weird that her fist is punching out of the bubble and yet her foot is just stepping out.  Her body other than the fist just doesn’t look like she’s straining to get out.

Project Night Night

My work place just had a fair with a volunteer table that mentioned the cutest project.  Project Night Night where you can either order a tote for $3, fill it with baby blankets, children’s books and a stuffed animal for a homeless child or you can donate $20 to send a tote that has already been put together.

Some info from their site:

By providing objects of reliable comfort, Project Night Night  reduces trauma and advances the emotional and
cognitive well-being of the children we serve.

Every child who receives one of our Night Night Packages leaves the shelter owning a book which
encourages reading and family bonding, a security blanket which can be cuddled, and a stuffed
animal which can become a cherished friend.  We have one objective – to deliver our Night Night
Packages to every homeless child in the country who needs one.

Project Night Night is a tax exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Service code.  We work with over 10,000 volunteers each year, and we are the leading
provider of nighttime comforts for homeless children.

I’ve seen some of these bags being put together at our office & they are such a sweet idea.

Survivor Premiere

So excited that not only is a new season of Survivor starting tonight but Boston Rob is back. So is Russell but I have to say I’m not a huge Russell fan.

Anyhow, this season shows promise. There are some sneaky folks on each tribe that I think are growing to create some drama.  Of course a lot of people want Rob out already and Kristina was totally gunning for him and trying to get the votes to get of him at the first tribal council. Stupid plan because the immunity challenge already showed they are the physically weaker tribe and they can’t afford to lose a strong guy.

Kristina is grating on my nerves. She has an immunity idol after searching all over the camp and is acting like a b*tch.  Phillip is also another irritating guy.  He’s a former CIA agent and feels the need to throw that in everyone’s face.  Ugh, get over yourself!

I did think it was funny that at Tribal Phillip couldn’t pronounce Francesca’s name to save his life.  I also couldn’t get over everything that came out at Tribal. Kristina got outed about trying to get rid of Rob, the fact that she had an idol and that she was actually aiming for Natalie instead of Rob.

In the end I was satisfied with who went.  I hope Kristina goes next.  What were your first impressions?
